Greta Werwath was the eldest daughter of MSOE founder, Oscar Werwath, and wife Johanna Werwath. She married John H. Murphy in 1941 at the age of 31, and both stayed involved with the Milwaukee School of Engineering throughout their lives. Greta began as the Admissions Receptionist for the school, and eventually worked her way up to Vice-President for Public Relations and Development. She was named a regent of the school in 1974.
