This is a portrait of Oscar Werwath, founder and first president of MSOE. Oscar was known for implementing one of the first practical engineering education programs [as opposed to strictly theoretical] in the United States. Early students were provided part-time employment for on-the-job training with Milwaukee industries in addition to their studies.
